Indoor Herb Garden Setup Guide
Fresh herbs at your fingertips, year-round. Select an herb below to see its indoor growing requirements: light, water, container size, and harvest tips.
Best Herbs for Indoor Growing
Not all herbs thrive indoors. The easiest ones to start with are basil, mint, chives, parsley, and cilantro. These tolerate lower light and smaller containers better than woody herbs like rosemary.
Light Requirements
Most herbs need 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight. A south-facing window is ideal. If you don't have enough natural light, a simple LED grow light for 12 to 16 hours/day works great.
Watering Indoor Herbs
The #1 killer of indoor herbs is overwatering. Let the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Use pots with drainage holes. Never let herbs sit in standing water.
